Cool, refreshing, and just in time for blueberry season, this blueberry-honey whiskey sour is the perfect summer drink, but I would have no issues drinking them all-year-round!

I’ve been wanting to share this recipe for ages!
The plan was to share this blueberry-honey whiskey sour recipe back in June for Father’s Day. What dad wouldn’t enjoy a glass of this?! Well, maybe my dad since I have never actually seen him drink hard liquor (he is a beer man at heart!) Then life got busy, other posts began and now we are here, just in time for blueberry season!
Like I said, this is my first Nude Bee Honey recipe but I have posted others beforehand (confusing eh?!) It is the recipe that made me fall in love with their honey even more (I have experimented a lot and it is great on its own, or, in my daughter’s case, great in tea!) And it is not my first whiskey sour recipe either! I’m not a big drinker (lightweight all the way!) but I love a great whiskey sour recipe! My recipe may seem on the weaker side for some, so feel free to pour in more booze 😉
Out here in my small town we have a beautiful local blueberry farm. As I pushed this recipe aside I kept thinking how great it would be to line it up with blueberry season! My daughter’s favourite fruit are blueberries so we always have them on hand (when the price is right!) I feel bad stealing away her precious fruit, but sometimes mom and dad need a blueberry-honey whiskey sour at the end of our day 😉
The really fun part of this blueberry-honey whiskey sour recipe is that not only are fresh blueberries used, but the honey itself is Blueberry Honey! I found this creation of Nude Bee Honey to be lemon-like, which is perfect because blueberries and citrus go so well together! I believe this one was my daughter’s favourite as well, but she changes her mind like she does her clothes, haha.
While this beverage is perfect for summer, I feel it is appropriate all year-round. Frozen blueberries could work here, and you can adjust tartness/booze levels accordingly (I think my whiskey sours tend to be on the weaker side so feel free to adjust if necessary!) And let’s be honest, this blueberry-honey whiskey sour is EASY to make, however, it is a tad time consuming when it comes to squeezing the fresh lemon juice. My husband had a coworker try my honey-roasted rhubarb whiskey sour and she really enjoyed it, however, stated it was a bit time-consuming. I totally agree; but I feel there is no other way to make a true whiskey sour 😉
The freshly pureed blueberries add a nice sweetness to the drink, while the honey only intensifies it! You can always increase the whiskey to 1/2 a cup for a stronger drink!

Ingredients
- 1/4 cup freshly pureed blueberries (about 1/4 pint whole berries.) strained if desired (I did not strain mine!)
- 1 tbsp. Nude Bee Honey's Blueberry Honey
- 1/3 cup whiskey (bourbon is the common element)
- 1/4 cup freshly squeezed lemon juice
- 1/8 cup simple syrup*
Instructions
- *Simple syrup is created by combining equal parts sugar and water in a small saucepan over medium heat until the sugar has dissolved completely (no need to boil!) Remove from heat and allow to cool completely.
- Fill a cocktail shaker (or makeshift one) half way with ice. Pour in whiskey, lemon juice, simple syrup, pureed blueberries, & honey. Place lid on and shake vigorously for 30-45 seconds.
- Add ice to a small whiskey glass. Strain beverage into cup and serve immediately.
- Drizzle some extra honey on top if desired!
Notes
This recipe yields a "thicker" whiskey sour because of the pureed fruit. Adjust whiskey/honey ratios according to your personal preference!
