I love poutine and Creamer potatoes, so why not combine the two yet again?! This personal poutine is complete in about 10 minutes, using homemade, store-bought, or leftover gravy and The Little Potato Company's Microwave Ready product. #Creamerpotatoes
This is a sponsored post. I was fortunate enough to receive products and/or monetary compensation from The Little Potato Company. Though products were received, all opinions are my own and I would not recommend a product that I did not enjoy.
It is not new to anyone that my all-time favorite meal is poutine!
It is a classic Canadian dish that usually contains French fries, cheese curds, and gravy. However, since playing around with The Little Potato Company's Creamer potatoes, I have come to LOVE Little potatoes in place of French fries. Especially with their Microwave Ready products!
You can also make this personal poutine with any of The Little Potato Company's other varietals, but we are all about convenience and fast-cooking here, and these Microwave Ready Creamer potato kits allow for this dish to be complete in under 10 minutes. Yes, under 10 minutes!!!
Coming up with this personal poutine was completely random and fun! Like usual, I had a lot of leftovers hanging around for kiddo and #1 husband that contained meat. Not wanting to cook more (because sometimes I do not want to!) I decided to figure out a really simple recipe using some of the Tomato Basil Microwave Ready kit flavor I had sitting in my fridge.
I have NO shame admitting I ate the entire container of my personal poutine in one sitting!
My husband was so impressed that he wanted one himself! Then again, he is Potato King and will eat them anywhere, any time!
Honestly, this personal poutine falls into so many categories. Inexpensive, perfect for college students, and great for office lunches where microwaves are handy. My husband says he has no issue heating up this recipe at work. Best part is that you can eat it right out of the container! Which I have done many times... However, using a bowl is acceptable here (but I totally get not wanting to do dishes!)
Store-bought, homemade, or leftover gravy works perfectly here. I use a vegetarian store-bought gravy when I am short on time and make it while the potatoes are microwaving. This personal poutine is a great way to use up leftover holiday dinner ingredients. Throw in some chopped ham or turkey and you have yourself a meat-lovers poutine!
I really like The Little Potato Company's Tomato Basil Microwave Ready Product, and you could use their Garlic Parsley or Savory Herb Microwave Ready flavors. The flavors are so delicious (and happen to be gluten-free and vegan, too,) and work really well in a poutine. I can see so many uses for Tomato Basil flavor combination, whether in a meat dish or sticking to a vegetarian one. And the gravy does not mask any flavors here! As a vegetarian, I really strive for recipes that have bold flavors and I can assure you this personal poutine is everything I have dreamed of and more!
On a final note, I just want to thank The Little Potato Company for the lovely experience I have had over the years working with them! Myself and all of their ambassador friends are featured on their website now, and I suggest taking a look as you get to meet the faces behind the recipes 🙂 It is neat to see what others are coming up with and how Creamer potatoes fit into their lives.
📖 Recipe
Personal Poutine using Creamer Potatoes
A super quick lunch or dinner recipe, this personal poutine is complete in under 10 minutes! Great for college students who are looking for hearty meals with limited cooking appliances.
Ingredients
- 1 (1 lb / 454 g) container of The Little Potato Company's Tomato Basil Microwave Ready Package OR 1 lb of your favorite bagged varietal.
- 1 cup homemade, leftover, or store-bought gravy
- 150-200 g cheese curds
Instructions
- Pull back plastic film slightly and remove seasoning pack.
- Position film back onto tray and microwave for 5 minutes on high.
- While potatoes are microwaving, reheat or cook your gravy.
- Rest potatoes for 2-4 minutes and then remove plastic film. Stir in seasoning and mix until well combined.
- Top potatoes with cheese curds, followed by hot gravy. Serve immediately.
Notes
Microwave cooking times may vary.
Serve in a separate bowl or prepare poutine inside packaging that is provided. If using homemade gravy, prepare your gravy in advance and just reheat when ready to serve. Otherwise, packaged store-bought gravy is finished in no time and can be made while potatoes are microwaving. Recipe can easily be doubled!
