Quick, simple, and oh-so-flavorful, this slow cooker honey-garlic ham is perfect any day of the year (and great for leftovers!)
I had a lot of trouble naming this slow cooker honey-garlic ham recipe today.
Traditionally when I think of honey-garlic flavor, I think of an abundance of honey and garlic ingredients. However, in this case I feel like I used a good amount of the two, but nothing crazy. The addition of other ingredients such as lime and ginger really tie this dish into Asian cuisine, but without venturing too far off from regular pantry ingredients (so don't let this scare you off!)
I've made many slow cooked hams in the past (bone-in and boneless,) and find this is one of the best ways to cook ham! The oven is great, but usually when we are serving ham, we are cooking another main meat dish with it (think turkey, rib roast, etc.) This slow cooker honey-garlic ham frees up the oven, and let's you forget about it. Because all the ham we buy comes pre-cooked anyway, meaning you are just reheating the ham.
Now, size does matter. My black forest ham was on the smaller side: 5 lbs to be exact. The amount of sauce created from this meal was perfect for the amount of ham we had. However, if you have a larger ham, that is okay!! You can easily double the amount of sauce, and cook the pork longer until the internal temperature reaches 145F. I'll keep saying this, but my slow cooker comes with a thermometer probe so I never overcook my meats (trust me, it helps GREATLY.)
